Brighton hope to extend their unbeaten streak when they visit Stoke in the Premier League on Saturday. Stoke returned to losing ways last weekend with a 2-1 defeat at Bournemouth, with that following on from a draw against Watford and a 2-0 win over Huddersfield, both at the bet365 Stadium.
This all came after a terrible run of form, and it leaves The Potters in a very dangerous position. They sit 18th in the table, inside the relegation zone on goal difference and only four points above the bottom of the table. However, the relegation battle is so varied at the moment that they are just six points off 11th placed Watford.
Brighton are in the mix as well, which is no surprise given they are a newly promoted side. The Seagulls lie in 13th position with a three point cushion on the drop zone, largely thanks to their impressive 3-1 win over West Ham last weekend.
That victory was definitely a very good performance, but their overall form suggests they’re going to struggle to stay afloat this season. That ended a six match winless streak in the Premier League and they haven’t won a league game away from home since November.
Since then they have lost five and drawn two of their seven matches, and even more worrying is the fact they have only found the net once during this run. In fact, they have failed to score in nine of their Premier League away days.
Now they’re coming up against a Stoke side who have the worst defence in the Premier League, but they have bolstered the back line under Paul Lambert. They have kept a clean sheet in both of their home games under Clement, so they will fancy their chances of keeping the travel sick Brighton attack at bay.
All things considered, backing a home win looks the best option here, especially due to the fact that Stoke have won their last six meetings with Brighton. We’re going for that, and also opting for Stoke to Win to Nil alongside a 2-0 correct score predictions.
Joe Allen is the man to keep an eye on for Stoke. The Welsh midfielder has scored in two of Stoke’s last four home games, and with both coming against similar opposition to Brighton he looks a fantastic price to add another goal to his tally.
