Baltimore Ravens vs Detroit Lions Predictions and Preview

An inter-conference matchup will take place on Sunday when QB Matthew Stafford leads the Lions into Baltimore to face QB Joe Flacco’s Ravens. Both teams have identical records, but last week could be deceiving for those who just saw the result. The Lions fell to the Vikings last week on Thanksgiving, but they actually played well. They lost by seven despite being -2 in the turnover column. One was an interception by Stafford but the other was a botched handoff exchange between Stafford and RB Ameer Abdullah that resulted in a recovered fumble for the Vikings. All in all, they did not get the win but the Lions did play some good football against one of the best teams in the NFL. Now here is where it gets interesting, because although the Ravens won this past Monday against the Texans, they looked anything but impressive. It was another showcase of how inept the Ravens are at moving the football. One of their scoring drives was only sustained because of a fake punt, and the rest were slow moving drives where Flacco showed his inaccuracy throwing the ball downfield. The biggest scare for Ravens fans should be their defensive performance, as although the Texans only scored 16 points, they were having trouble all night containing Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins. The Ravens best CB Jimmy Smith was getting exposed all night, and it doesn’t look any better for him with the talented Lions duo of Marvin Jones and Golden Tate coming to town. We really favor the Lions in this matchup and will be glad to take the points. We are recommending them as an outright winner, as they are much more stable offensively than Baltimore and are shockingly not that far behind defensively. The Ravens’ “elite defense” has barely beaten QBs Tom Savage and EJ Manuel, so we think this is a great spot for Matthew Stafford to be in. The Lions D should be able to contain one of the worst offenses in the league, and Detroit should take home the win.
